Digital sports online
learning and coaching platform MiMentor has announced former Manchester City
and England midfielder Shaun Wright-Phillips as its first-ever global
ambassador.
MiMentor is the unique
training platform for the sports sector, enabling individuals and organisations
to access sports-related education programmes from expert practitioners and
coaches.
Owned by the Mitre Group,
and designed by their team of coaching, sports science and educational experts,
the creators of the platform are already a leading training provider within the
sports sector, working with top industry brands including Premier league clubs
since 1992.
With his well-documented
move to the USA to play for New York Red Bulls in 2015, Wright-Phillips
represents the global expansion of the game and says he has seen the need for
coaching platforms like MiMentor throughout his career.
Wright Phillips, said: “I’m
delighted to have partnered with MiMentor. When I was first approached by the
team, their experience in the sports education sector was clear to see and I’m
excited to help them continue their expansion.
“What makes this platform
stand out is that it helps facilitate world class coaching and open up expert
knowledge to all. It’s an opportunity for some of the best educators in the
world to come together and share their knowledge.”
“Football is a global game
and I’ve been part of that both here and in the USA. In the same way, I feel
education should have a global reach too and MiMentor gives us the power to
extend knowledge to more clubs, schools and academies where high-level coaching
and expert practitioners might not always be easy to access.
“This platform is also a
great opportunity for any clubs who need an interactive and intuitive platform
to host their own content for their own coaches, parents and players; ensuring
their entire network can access specialist knowledge and insights.”
The MiMentor portal hosts
exclusive pay-per-module programmes and subscriptions. Monthly licensee fees
are also available to organisations promoting their own content. It also
features free modules so anyone can sign up and give it a go.
Furthermore, unique webinar
and live stream features mean users can not only access content, but also
engage directly with the experts they are learning from.
The platform is already
rapidly becoming the go-to-place for digital training in the sports sector and
Managing Director Jennie Bowmer wants to continue to bring the highest level of
sports education right to people’s fingertips.
Bowmer said: “Since the
start we’ve always had the aim of giving people all over the globe access to
world class education, anywhere and at any time.
“This is an incredibly
exciting time for MiMentor and having Shaun’s experience on board with the
platform is invaluable.
“Shaun has seen first-hand
through his own playing and coaching experiences the need for a way to share
knowledge digitally and increase player development.
“As our business grows
internationally and pushes new boundaries, it’s important that we align ourselves
with sporting greats like Shaun who have done the same.
“There are so many fantastic
educators and practitioners out there in sport. We’ve spent many successful
years helping people access courses face-to-face but now we want to help open
up this world class education to everyone. The MiMentor platform was built to
do exactly that.”
Wright-Phillips will play a
key role as global ambassador with MiMentor, helping to promote the digital
education platform across current sports markets, facilitating communication
between clubs and inspiring other coaches and practitioners to share their
knowledge through the learning platform.
