Gbenga Daniel advises youth on leadership, self independence, receives award

The former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has continued to be an inspiration to the younger generation as he mentored some youth on the importance of leadership training and how they can be financially independent through entrepreneurial skill on Saturday, 3rd August 2019 at the Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos.


Speaking as the chairman of the third annual Young Leaders Entrepreneurship Conference (YOLEC) for young leaders organized by the producers of Sparklight Entrepreneurship Show, he said they should realized that they are indeed tomorrow’s future.


The conference themed: 'An Entrepreneurial Mindset: A Solution to the High Unemployment Rate in Nigeria' played host to youths across the state, while Gbenga Daniel appreciated the organisers for putting the event together for the youth.


According to the former governor, “the lives of successful entrepreneurs in the world have one thing in common and that’s perseverance as none of them gave up at any point in time."


He, therefore, advised them to be tenacious in pursuing their dreams.


The convener, Tosin Adesile also thanked the former governor for his availability to motivate the next generation.


In further appreciation, the students jointly presented award to the former governor for his support and being a source of inspiration to them.



Earlier, keynote address was delivered by Engr. Obed Ikem, a project manager with Exxon-Mobil, while the Chief Executive Officer of Cars 45 also shared the experiment and risks his company took before becoming a foremost leader in the auto business.


Also speaking, Dr Sunday Adebisi, Associate Professor in the department of Business Administration and Acting Director, Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre, University of Lagos who also emphasized on the significance of entrepreneurial skill said the Senate of the University is serious about producing good products but with solid entrepreneur mindset.

 
Participants which include students, corps members and unemployed graduates enjoyed several opportunities such as review of curriculum vitae, mentoring session, exposure to digital skills and technologies like data science and analytics, cyber-security, cloud computing, block chain and more.
