Brands and Marketing publication has concluded plans to host the 2nd edition of
Women in Marketing & Communications Conference/Awards (WIMCA) at Muson
Centre, Onikan, Lagos on 31st August 2018.
WIMCA is the foremost
thought leadership platform for insights and contemporary trends in engaging
female consumers and at the same time recognizing outstanding women and
corporate organization for their contributions to the growth of their various
industries and the country at large.
This year’s event with the theme, “Women in Marketing Communications:
The Press for Progress” promises to be the biggest gathering of female
professionals in the field of Marketing and communications industry.
Industry analyst reveals
that only 4 out of the top 20 Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria
(AAAN) member agencies have women at the helm while the ten major Media
Independent agencies, on the other hand, do not have any woman at the helm.
Other sub-sectors of the industry cutting across both agency and clients' side
have very few women at the helm.
In line with the realities,
the organisers of the conference and awards disclosed that WIMCA is designed to
identify the current trends in marketing communications while addressing the
career challenges of female marketing executives.
According to the Convener of
the Conference / Awards, Joshua Ajayi, Publisher of Brand Communicator, “the
objective of the event is to celebrate women of outstanding achievements in the
marketing and communications industry while creating a platform for networking
among them.
“It will also provide a
mentorship platform for young and prospective professionals and to ignite the
potential in women towards attaining enviable heights in marketing and
management. As well as inspire the entrepreneurial spirit in women towards
creating and sustaining enduring marketing and communications industry
businesses.”
The organisers disclosed
that many important dignitaries are billed to attend the August event as
special guests of honours.
In the same vein, the
confirmed Speakers and Panelists are Alex Goma, Managing Director, PZ Cussons;
Folake Ani-Mumumey, Chairman, Board of Directors, FBN Insurance Brokers; Julia
Oku Jacks, Managing Director, Treewater Limited; Lampe Omoyele, Managing Director,

Recall, WIMCA was first
hosted in 2014, the maiden edition was tagged "Inspiring Change in
Marketing: Taking The Centre Stage." The event featured about 500
participants from the marketing communication industry and higher institutions
of learning. It was held July 31st, 2014 at Shell Nigeria hall, Muson Centre in
Lagos.
