UNN rewards staff at 2017 excellence performance awards

Academic and non-academic staff of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka have been rewarded for their selfless service to the institution.

The successful staff received the award and a cash prize of N200, 000 at the 2017 excellence performance awards held at the Princess Alexandra Auditorium of the institution.

In opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the University and Chairman of the awards ceremony, Prof Chukwuma Ozumba said the aim of the award is to reward those who have distinguished themselves and encourage others.

"There is the need to reward those who have excelled in the service to the University. I congratulate them because they have done creditably well," he said.

He said the call for the nomination was put up on the University website and that all due process was followed in the nomination and awarding deserving staff.

One of the recipients of the awards, Eze Nzube said he is elated with the honour and pledged to put more work in his service to the institution.

In a vote of thanks, the head of the Senate Ceremonials Committee, Professor Kenneth Offokansi, said it is the policy of the institution to reward excellence and thanked the Vice Chancellor for instituting the awards and called on those who didn't receive the awards to put more work in their service to the institution.

Set up in 2016, the awards is aimed at showing appreciation to the deserving staff of the institution and encourage others to step up their game.

The award ceremony is part of events marking the 57 Founders Day celebration of the University.
