NPFL Chairman
and sportscaster extraordinaire, Aisha
Falode, has congratulated the U20 Women
national team, styled Super Falconets
for making it to the next round of the World Cup qualifying championship.
The team
defeated Tanzania 6-0, away from home,
after winning the first leg in Benin City 3-0, to cruise to a 9-0
aggregate win. The team next meet
Morocco.
Speaking on
their heroics, Falode, said the young lasses have demonstrated how
every national team should play away games, attributing their success to the
key fact that the Nigerian Women League ran smoothly this season without boycott of games as witnessed in recent. “The
girls simply demonstrated the strength of our league and they can still do
more”. She said they were simply
marvelous and deserve all the encouragement not only to qualify for the World
Cup but go ahead and win the trophy.
Falode also
praised Coach Christopher Danjuma for the manner he approached the return leg
in Tanzania, after it appeared the team missed
a lot of scoring chances in the Benin game. She also admonished the coach not
to rest on his oars as there are still many rivers to cross.
She however
reserved the larger chunk of the praises for Governor Godwin Obaseki and his
deputy Comrade Philip Shaibu, for
grooming the girls for the Tanzania massacre. "If our amiable Governor
didn't host and even splash cash on them in Benin City, we probably might be
talking differently. Once again, I say thank you, Governor Obaseki and his team", she concluded.
