Obaseki assures of excellent Super 4 in Benin City

The Sports loving Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and his equally passionate deputy, Philip Shaibu, have assured the management of the Nigeria Women Professional League (NWPL) of an excellent Super 4 championship in the modernized city of Benin City.

The governor spoke after doling out N5million to the Falconets for the comprehensive 3-0 victory over their counterparts from Tanzania. He also hosted the two teams to a state dinner at the Government House in Benin City.

The amiable Governor, who was a sportsman with speciality in cricket and football in his days at the University of Benin, assured the NWPL, that there is going back in reviving sports in Edo State and assured Falode that there will be no let down during the Super 4 Championship that holds between October 9-14.

Falode on her part, said she was lucky to have a State Governor so passionate about sports and said all necessary logistics are being put in place for organizational excellence during the Super 4. “With the support we are getting from Governor Obaseki and his deputy, we can assure you that the sky is now our take off point”, she declared.

Edo FA Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, spoke in a similar vein, noting that the Governor and indeed the entire leadership of the state have shown enough support for sports and its up to sports administrators in the state to take it to the next level. “I can assure the Governor and his team that we will not disappoint at a critical point of sports development not only in Edo state but Nigeria”.
