Nine more points are all
Rivers United require to preserve their status as a member of the Nigeria
Professional Football League (NPFL) for another season.
The Port Harcourt side
will face the league leaders in Jos on Sunday knowing that claiming a win at
the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos will represent the biggest upset in the NPFL this
term.
Plateau United have not
lost any game at home this season and United have only won once, away from home
this term (against relegated Remo Stars).
Baring a dramatic
combination of results in the final three round of matches of the season, six
points will be enough to see Plateau
United claim their first ever top flight title and they will be looking to tame
the ‘Pride of Rivers’ in front of vociferous home support on Sunday.
Dele Ajiboye returns in
goal for Plateau United after missing out on the 0-2 defeat to ABS FC in
Illorin following his national team commitments.
Damian Longbap, Lazarus
Fan, Ogene Elijah, Hamisu Sale and long throw specialist, Daniel Itodo are some
of the individuals head coach of Plateau United, Kennedy Boboye will be relying
on to deliver the goods.
Ibeh Johnson, Mafang Pam,
Kabiru Umar, Benjamin Turba and Anayo Ogbonna are other key dramatis personae
that can cause damage to the Pride of Rivers’ aspirations of remaining in the
country’s elite division.
The mood in the Rivers
United camp is not exactly far from gloomy following the demise of the club’s
kit man, Uduak ‘Amanaman’ James following a brief illness.
Boboye and the Rivers
United captain, Festus Austine spoke to our official website,
www.riversunitedfc.com.ng about the prospects of their respective sides ahead
of Sunday’s game.
