Benin City Super 4 hail D’Tigress, wants them in tourney

As the countdown to the Benin City Nigeria Women’s League draws closer, organizer of the event have again heaped praises on Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Philip Shuaibu, even as they declared that women sports is going to new heights after Nigeria emerged Women’s Champions of the showpiece African Women basketball tourney that took place in Mali. The team also automatically qualified for the World Championships that holds in Spain next year.

Again it was the Chairman of the Nigeria Women Professional League, Aisha Falode, who spoke on the feat achieved by the Women national basketball team, noting that it was the first time in the history of the sport that Nigeria will be both male and female defending champions.

She said that sports in Nigeria has taken a sharp bend for positivity and its about time that Corporate Nigeria key into the unveiling trend of making Nigerian the biggest sporting nation not only and in Africa but in the Commonwealth and possibly the world.

She urged the Nigerian government to reward the national women’s team well even as she said she will be pleased to receive the team in Benin City when the tourney runs between September11-16. “ I am just excited that our women and girls are creating new frontiers and we also want to cash in on it to rediscover football at the Women’s level and hail this great team for bringing honour to our fatherland.
