Dino Melaye, the senator representing Kogi West may be recalled any moment from now if the referendum being held to remove him sails through. The constituency where the Senator comes from, on  Friday, has begun to mobilise to register their names to recall the senator, saying he is not representing them well.

The local council development areas involved in the recall process in the senatorial district are Ijumu, Kabba/Bunu, Lokoja, Kogi, Mopa/Amuro, Yagba West and Yagba East. Kogi citizens are seeing trouping out to have their signatures collected at Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Councils respectively on Friday. The process continued at Ijumu on the same day, where citizens came out on Saturday with the photocopies of their permanent voter cards to register their names.

Melaye has stirred many controversies since becoming the senator of the Federal Republic. He has been alleged by Sahara Reporters not to have graduated appropriately from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), but Melaye had proved he possessed the first degree certificate and that he passed out appropriately as confirmed by ABU.

Melaye also has been at loggerheads with Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, and Taofiq Isah, the sole administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, who is standing trial for an alleged assassination attempt on the lawmaker’s life.

The senator is also at daggers drawn with Senator Smart Adeyemi who says Melaye bribed his way through to emerge the senator representing Kogi West.
Meanwhile, the embattled senator has described the process to recall him is a joke.
