There will be a desperate
scramble for points in Port Harcourt on Wednesday as Rivers United and Remo
Stars clash in a rescheduled match day 14 Nigeria Professional Football League
(NPFL) fixyure.
Remo Stars are ensconced
at the bottom of the log and will be keen to avoid defeat against a
highly-rated Rivers United side that have yet to hit the heights domestically.
Rivers United have never
lost a competitive game at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt and the
newly-promoted Remo Stars will need to produce probably their biggest
performance of the season to become the first side to win at the fortress.
Head coach of Remo Stars,
Fatai Osho expects a difficult game on Wednesday against the ‘Pride of Rivers’.
He infers that the standard
of football on display will be high as according to him, the respective
positions of the two sides on the NPFL log does not necessarily do justice to
the personnel at their disposal.
“It is going to be a very
difficult game. We know that Rivers United is a traditional side in the league.
“I don’t think they belong
to the position they occupy in the league presently.
“They are a far better
side than what the table reflects at the moment and it is the same thing with
Remo Stars; we are a very good side.
“The only way we can
rectify that is to start picking up points and that is what we want to do from
Wednesday in Port Harcourt,” he said.
Rivers United come into
the fixture in fine home form having won their last five games in all
competitions in Port Harcourt.
“It is unfortunate (that
we lost our last two away games) and we apologize to our fans.
“Now we need to do our
best, sit up and try to best to win our next game at home (against Remo
Stars),” he said.
