The National Chairman of
the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), Vincent Okumagba, has said that
the Super Eagles need the support of all Nigerians to excel in the fast
approaching 2019 AFCON qualifier against visiting Bafana Bafana of South
Africa. He is also calling on Nigerians to give the Eagles the morale support
they need to overcome the Lions of Cameroun in the Russia 2018 World Cup

The Eagles will host the
Bafana Bafana in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in June for the AFCON qualifier, having
missed out of two past editions held in 2015 and 2017. Okumagba said that the
Supporters Club would storm Uyo with at least 1000 members as against the ‘few
members’ who usually cheered the team in past matches.
“The number of people
supporting the Super Eagles in the past are always very few compelled to the
large number of supporters from other countries who cheer their teams. But that
has changed because we have been able to mobilise more members and others have
joined us. The number is increasing by the day. Nigerians will be very pleased
with the way and manner the supporters club will conduct themselves in Uyo.
Over 1,000 people will wear the green-white-green colour, and I am sure the
Eagles will enjoy the drums and they will do well,” he stated.
Okumabga revealed that
some corporate organisations had already identified with them in his bid to
build a new look Supporters Club, adding that he had started talking with his
opponents in Lagos on possibility of speaking with one voice as far as
supporting the Super Eagles to win both the AFCON and World Cup tickets this
year.
On plans for the battle of
Cameroun, Okumagba said: “We have chapters in Port Harcourt, Calabar and Uyo
and what we intend doing is to ferry as many people as possible through the air
and by road to Limbe, venue of the return leg match against the Lions of
Cameroun in August.
