Edo students insist on Amodu, Keshi Sports Festival

Posters are out and the University of Benin is agog as the National Association of Edo State State Students, NAESS, have insisted that two of the greatest coaches Nigeria has ever produced, Shuaibu Amodu and Stephen Okechuwku Keshi must t be honoured next month in the City of Benin

Already June 7 and 11 have been picked by the students according to the national leadership of Edo Students who have said all plans have reached advanced stage whether they get funding or not from relevant authorities.

Director of Sports of the umbrella body Adeoye Emmanuel and Steering Committee Chairman, Oloke Emmanuel, said in a release that plans have reached they call an even that will draw all students of tertiary institutions to Benin City and it will almost be as big as the National University Games (NUGA).  “We are expecting students from several tertiary institutions in the country”, he declared.

The duo averred that the Edo and Delta State Governments have been making pockets of support but the y are ready to  carry on because of the huge contributions the duo have made to Nigeria and African football.

June 7 and 11 have been set aside for the events as Keshi takes June 7, while Amodu takes June 11. “We have mobilized students for this noble event and we believe that in  future posterity will judge us. We are not doing it for gains but our plans is to make it annual and event when we leave the students arena, those coming behind us we know that there were heroes made here in Edo and Delta state who must never be forgotten, Emmanuel Oloke declared.
