For daring to say the Senate was filled the people of questionable character, the Deputy Majority Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’ Allah, has called for the appearance of the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Professor Itse Sagay (SAN) before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to name the lawmakers he was referring to.

Professor Sagay, in one of the national dailies had said the Senate would regret the decision to shun the screening of the Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs), saying it was childish and irresponsible. He added that the upper chamber was filled with people of questionable character who put their personal interest ahead of the nation.

The comment provoked reactions from senators as they took turns to berate the legal luminary, lambasting him for using derogatory words on them. Raising a point of order, the Deputy Majority Leader, Na’ Allah made reference to Sagay’s comments in reaction to the protest by the Senate against the retention of Mr Ibrahim Magu as the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission despite the rejection of his nomination by the lawmakers.
