National Chairman of the
Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Chief Vincent Okumagba, says he has been
celebrating the recent changes carried out during the Confederation of African Football CAF,
elections held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Okumagba, said in a statement
that the emergence of Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad as new CAF President and the
return of Nigeria to the Executive Committee of CAF through the election of NFF
President Melvin Amaju Pinnick, should be celebrated by all well meaning
football stakeholders.
“These two great sons of
Africa, will bring new ideas, new vision and a breath of fresh air into
Nigeria, Africa and indeed world football. They need all the support they can
get to perform this onerous task.”
He said other members of
the CAF Executive Committee are also very important to the success of the new
order but he was zeroing in on the duo of Ahmad and Amaju, because they are
from his immediate constituency. He pledged his continued support for football
through the Supporters Club, assuring that there is actually no division in the
family of those who support football in Nigeria.
“I have been using my
personal resources to ensure that we attend major events and I won’t stop
because some people want to frustrate my effort, I will continue and at the
end, football will always be the big winner”.
