Thursday, 17 November 2016

Just appointed Nigeria’s National Women’s League Chairperson, Aisha Falode, has said she has no doubt about the ability of the Nigerian national women side, tagged the Super Falcons to win the African Women Championship for an unprecedented  eight time in Cameroon.

She also tips Nigeria’s U20 Women side, the Falconets to cause more upsets at the ongoing FIFA world tourney in Papua New Guinea where the team after losing its first game 6-1 to Japan bounced back with a 3-1 win over Canada on Wednesday.

Falode, a member of the CAF and FIFA Media Committees is currently in Cameroon for the AWC championship and declared that it’s only Nigeria that can beat Nigeria at the championship. She said the Nigerian women side with Florence Omagbemi as Head Coach has a leader on the bench with the players ready to defend the integrity of the best national women side ever  in Africa.

Hear her: “We have a team managed by one of the best women footballers Africa has ever produced and we must thank the NFF for her appointment, the players also know what is at stake and they are determined to make a statement in the new era of women football, I believe they can do it and even more as we await better outing at the global level for the Falcons”.

On the U20 side rebound in Papua New Guinea, Falode said Nigerians should support the Peter Dedevbo managed team to reach the knock out stage and possibly pick the trophy following the comeback win against Canada after an embarrassing defeat to Japan. “The team can still make it but they need the support of all Nigerians in the task and sure who says we cannot win the World Cup itself, like we say in football impossibility does not exist.”

Falode while also thanking the Amaju Pinnick led NFF over her appointment assured that she will not disappoint the federation because of the carefully selected team that have been chosen to work with her. “We thank  the NFF for finding us worthy to serve and the assurance here is that there is work to be done but we will not let those who have picked us for these positions down however we need the support of not only women football lovers but all and sundry for success.
