Sweden –based Christy Ohiaeriaku has vowed to challenge the other four goalkeepers in the camp of the U20 Women National Team, Falconets, for the number one shirt in the final squad for this year’s FIFA U20 Women's World Cup finals in Papua New Guinea.

Ohiaeriaku, who plies her trade with IFKO Stersund of Sweden, revealed that she is relishing the battle for the goalkeeping role in the World Cup –bound squad.

Her arrival has raised the bar in the goal-tending department as the other goalkeepers - Fubiana Briggs, Mercy Vincent, Sandra Chiichii and Onyinye Okeke – have also shown great form in training.

The former Rivers Angels safe hands, who has kept nine clean sheets out of 12 matches for her Swedish Club this season, says she is determined to be in the train for the World Cup in Papua New Guinea next month.

"I am happy to be in camp. I know the situation here. I want to play so are the other goalkeepers invited. Competition is good and healthy because it brings out the best in you. Everyone is fighting hard to get a chance to be at the World Cup.

"I have no fears. I have a lot of exposure and experience that I intend to bring to bear on my game as my contribution to the team. This is a call to serve and I will try as much as possible to give my best and leave the rest to God.”

Nigeria will open her Group B campaign against Japan on 13th November 2016 at the Bava Park in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Other countries in the group are Canada and Spain.
