Ahead of next month's FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Papua New
Guinea, Falconet's head coach, Peter Dedevbo has given Saturday, 8th October,
2016 as deadline for Kazakhstan –based Chinwendu Ihezuo and the other invited
overseas –based players to report to camp.
Dedevbo handed down the deadline after Monday morning's training
session at the FIFA Goal Project pitch in Abuja. He warned that any player that
fails to comply with the directive should consider herself dropped from the
team.
There are presently 24 players in camp, and the 2014 FIFA U20
Women’s World Cup silver winning coach said that due to time constraint, it is
important that the remaining six players make it to the camp quickly, to enable
the technical crew integrate them into their training programme.
"The spirit in camp is very good. The players’ level of
physical fitness and cooperation is quite encouraging. If they continue like
this, at the end of the camp, we would have a very good team for the World Cup.
"We need to have all the players together as soon as possible
to properly integrate everyone one into the training programme because the time
is short.”
Among the players still being expected in camp are Sweden –based
Christy Ohiaeriaku, Uchenna Kalu (Orlando Kicks, USA), Valerie Awelewa (Genk
FC, Belgium) and Aminat Yakubu (Minsk FC, Belarus).
