Super Eagles star Ahmed Musa scored his first goal for Leicester
City in their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium on Saturday
afternoon.
In doing so, the former CSKA Moscow striker became the 29th player
listed as a Nigerian by the Premier League to find the back of the net since
the inception of the Premier League in 1992.
Efan Ekoku is officially recognized as the first Nigerian player
to score in the Premier League, achieving the feat whilst defending the colours
of Norwich City, before Daniel Amokachi (Everton) joined him on the list of
scorers.
Four defenders - Joseph Yobo, Danny Shittu, Celestine Babayaro and
Taye Taiwo- have managed to find the back of the net in the English top-flight,
while nine midfielders and sixteen strikers have hit target.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni has scored the most goals, 95 in total, followed
by ex-Arsenal hero Nwankwo Kanu who netted 54 times for the teams he
represented.
