The students of Institute of Management and Technology
(IMT),Enugu, have appealed to management and authorities of the institution to
renovate lecture halls, construct motorable roads, and also provide pipe borne
water for the school community.
The students who made known their ordeal to our correspondents
when they visited the school said all these are necessary to create conducive
environment for teaching and learning.
For instance, a student of the Department of Public
Administration, Uche Attah, complained on how she was drenched by rain in the
hall during one of her examinations.
"I was really frustrated during one of my examinations as I
was drenched by rain and could not concentrate on what I was writing. I
complained and I was asked to look for another seat and continue with what I
was writing."
She further highlighted how she fell inside a pothole filled with
mud water while rushing to lectures as a result of bad roads in the school
premises.
"I am pleading with the school authorities to come to our aid
because the situation has got out of hand and it's hindering the good
performance of the students, academically and otherwise," she stated.
Also, Ebere Onu, another student said that the well water which
they bathe with itches their bodies.
"The well water which we have when bathe with itches the body
making us buy kerosene all the time, as there is incessant power cut. This eats
half of our pocket money and eliminates the spirit of saving," she stated.
Ebere further pleaded with the school authorities to come to their
aid, stating that it is mostly the poor students in the school that are really affected.
"Providing pipe borne water for us will boost students’
performance academically and create enabling environment for learning."
