(Enugu, Nigeria) The Enugu State Police Command has arrested Mr. Chisom
Edeh, a native of Nara in Nkanu East LGA of the state over the killing of
another cultist simply known as "Adodo" after a cult clash between
two rival cult groups in the state two months ago.
Briefing news men, the state Commissioner of police, Mr
Emmanuel Ojukwu, said that the suspect and three others now at large, who are
members of Aiye confraternity killed
the victim after a clash with another rival cult group.
He said "the suspect and three others now at
large, who are members of the Aiye cult were involved in a shoot out with with
another cult group called Bagger and the shoot out led to the killing of a
member of the Bagger cult group. Their actions is illegal, it's condemnable and
unacceptable. He shall be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law as
our men are doing all they can to fish out others involved in the
killing".
The police commissioner who attributed the arrest to
good information and superior strategy from the police called on citizens in
the state to collaborate with the police by furnishing the force with timely
information to help in fighting crime in the state, adding that police in the
state cannot achieve meaningful results without the full co-operation of the
public.
The suspect, Mr Edeh, confessed that him and three of
his cult members now at large, committed the crime but alleged that the victim
first attacked him.
According to him, "the boy first attacked me with
his own gang, I merely escaped the attack. So I later attacked him with my own
gang and we murdered him in the process. I did that because he first wanted to
kill me. He attacked me first", he explained.
