Expert suggests remedy for unemployment

The president, Nsukka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Dr Basil Onugu has stressed the need to increase commercial and economic activities in order to complement Government's effort in job creation.

He made this known on Saturday in Enugu during a press briefing on the planned first Nsukka Trade Fair Sales Exhibition.

In his address, Dr. Onugu said that increased economic activities will also aid government in poverty reduction through the establishment and development of more cottage industries.

"Our goal is to empower the people especially through establishment of more SMEs that will create more jobs and wealth for the teaming population"he said.
According to him, Nigeria is faced with many challenges which can only be addressed through agriculture.

"Part of the immediate and sustainable solution to the multifaceted challenges confronting Nigeria is diversification through agriculture and agro allied industries," he stated.

Speaking on the planned trade fair, with the theme Promoting SMEs and Agriculture for National Economic Recovery, Dr. Onugu said that it is the first of its kind organised in partnership with the technical support and partnership of BKG Exhibitions Limited Lagos.

"The trade fair is organised to enable NSCCIMA and the organised private sector to update the investment map of the state in the campaign to attract more investments," he stated.

NSCCIMA is a non profit and non-sectarian organisation established to: advocate and liase with the government on issues affecting industries,  promote and protect the interest of the business community and to also facilitate the establishment of small scale industrial clusters.

The trade fair which is scheduled for 10th to the 21st of November will hold at the government field, Odenibgo Road, Nsukka in Enugu State.
