Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly yesterday adjourned sitting on the floor of the House for one month- August 9 to September 13.

Before the adjournment, the House passed into law a bill for a law to make for the provision for the consolidation of all Property and Land Based Rates and Charges and Charges Payable under the Property Rates Laws, Local Government Law and Assessment Law in Enugu State into a new Land Based Charge to be called Property Land Use Charge, to make provision for the levying and collection of the Charges and for Connected Purposes, House Bill 1, 2016.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Edward Uchenna Ubosi, said that the adjournment was made to last long to enable his colleagues to freshen up in preparation for future tasks ahead.

The passage of the bill into law followed a report of joint Committee on Local Government, Inter-Parliamentary and ENSIEC Matters, Petroleum Resources and Environmental Management, Lands, Works, Housing and Urban Development and Judiciary, Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges on the bill.

The bill scaled into law after a painstaking item by item of the bill when the House dissolved into a committee of the Whole House.

The Speaker thanked his colleagues for their contributions that made the law a reality and wished them happy and fruitful recess.
