Green Africa Airways recently paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria (NCAT).  The Green Africa Airways founding team was led by Babawande Afolabi, Founder & CEO of the new airline. Other members of the founding team were Captain Folu Oladipo, Chief Pilot; Nathan Smith, Director of Maintenance & Engineering; Victor Banjo, Chief People Officer and Capt. Jag Singh, Chief Operating Officer. The NCAT host delegation was led by Capt. Mohammed Abdulsalami, Rector & CEO, NCAT.


In his opening remarks, Babawande Afolabi said, “One of the key reasons we are all excited about Green Africa Airways is the opportunity to significantly contribute to the development of local human capacity in the Nigerian commercial aviation industry. Our visit here today is to lay the foundation for a symbiotic relationship with NCAT as we work, alongside our partners, including Boeing, to develop seasoned future local talents for Green Africa Airways and the industry at large.”   


During the visit, the Green Africa Airways founding team had an executive session with NCAT senior leadership that was chaired by Capt. Mohammed Abdulsalami, Rector & CEO of NCAT. The team had extensive tour of the school’s facilities including simulators, flying school, engineering workshop, language proficiency school and airport operations training unit.  The team also met with student pilots, young technicians and engineers in training.



 
While receiving the Green Africa Airways founding team, Capt. Mohammed Abdulsalami said, “It’s refreshing to see a new Nigerian airline place the development of local human capacity at the center of its mission and with support at the highest level of management from the very beginning.” He continued, “NCAT was founded to be a premier training institution that will provide superior talents to support a thriving commercial aviation industry in Nigeria. We look forward to exploring areas of collaboration with Green Africa Airways as we seek to accomplish our shared vision of developing the Nigerian commercial aviation industry especially in terms of excellent local human capacity.”
