The candidate of All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been declared the winner of the gubernatorial election held on Saturday March 9.

INEC’s Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, made the declaration on Sunday at INEC’s collation centre in Yaba, Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu polled a total of 739,445 votes to beat Jimmy Agbaje of the PDP who polled a total of 206,141 votes.

The APC candidate, Sanwo-Olu, having polled a majority of the votes cast at the polls, was declared the winner of the election by INEC.

Mr. Jimmy Agbaje has since congratulated his APC counterpart.

The defeat of Agbaje by a very broad margin of 533,304 votes by Sanwo-Olu may have put an end to Agbaje’s contesting for the governorship position in Lagos, having contested for the position three times.
