Pitch fully laid at Tottenham new stadium

Tottenham Hotspur’s new stadium has edged closer to completion with the pitch now fully laid at the development.

Having looked like just a shell for some time, the arena now looks ready for action with they turf installed.

Work started on the laying of the grass on Tuesday and was completed on Wednesday night with further works ongoing, including lighting rigs entering the pitch to help it grow and knit together.

The pitch had been prepared in the Netherlands and was being brought to the UK in 23 refrigerated lorries earlier in the week.

It’s a huge boost for both the club and its fans who saw their original date for the opening of stadium, September 15, come and go due to problems with ‘critical safety systems’ at the ground.

While the issues are attended to, the club have had to play their matches at Wembley, with all their Champions League home games also scheduled to be there, even if they do move into their new home sooner than November 28, when Spurs face Inter Milan.

Many supporters believe their opening match could come against London rivals Chelsea on November 24 but there is no official word on this, with test events having to be carried out for the club to obtain the necessary safety certificates to open the stadium fully.
